The second you walk in there are sneakers and shoes lined up in makeshift timber and Besser brick shelves. But discerning eyes will recognise that this is no ordinary footwear, but shoes that people wait in line for. The sneakers Tom is sporting today are another example: a collaboration between Japanese designer Sacai and Nike.”

They have welcomed a baby, Tai, and Tom, an enthusiastic new dad, has already organised a fatherly Danish cargo bike with a kid’s seat. It will join the bikes on the balcony and the cycle trainer in the living room corner. The trainer kept the demons away during lockdown; now it keeps a potential new-dad-fitness-slump at bay. Tom can’t wait to hit the road with Tai up front and the wind in their hair.

Nine Smith Street was completed in 2016 and is located just a few hundred metres from Neometro’s first-ever project, a warehouse conversion in Little Smith Street finished back in 1985.
