PAST EVENT: Cultural fabric, Contemporary Australian textile design and the legacy of Frances Burke

6pm Thursday,  March 10th at Bookshop by Uro, 5/30 Perry Street,
Collingwood Yards

Join us for a discussion on Frances Burke’s legacy and how contemporary cultural identities are finding reflection in textile design.

Frances Burke was Australia's most influential and celebrated textile designer of the 20th century. Displaying imagery and colours from native flora, marine objects, to designs of pure abstraction, Burke's innovative fabrics remain fresh and distinctly evocative of Australia.

Join Melbourne designer Beci Orpin and director of the Social Studio Dewi Cooke in a conversation with the authors of Frances Burke: Designer of Modern Textiles, Nanette Carter and Robyn Oswald-Jacobs, about Frances Burke’s legacy and how contemporary cultural identities are finding reflection in textile design.

RSVP here.

All ticket sales will provide a $5 discount off the book, Frances Burke: Designer of Modern Textiles on the event night.
