Architecture Australia features Falls the Shadow
The July/August 2012 edition of Architecture Australia includes a two-part feature on the National Gallery of Australia and our publication Falls The Shadow.
The first part, entitled ‘The Swagman and the Squatter’, was written by Mark Raggatt and comprises an overview of the building’s fraught history, its relationship to the High Court and to the Parliamentary Zone more generally. The second part of the feature is a one page review of Falls the Shadow written by John Bralic, an architect and founder of the practice Mirror Systems. Combined, the two pieces provide the reader with deep insights into the complex ideas that lay behind Col Madigan’s designs, and their legacy.
As Raggatt describes in his piece, ‘Col Madigan was an architect of rare intellect and tenacity and his buildings warrant our attention.’
