Mongrel Rapture receives Architecture in the Media award

Mongrel Rapture has won the Bates Smart Architecture in the Media State Award. In their citation, the jury described the book as "an exemplary model of an architectural monograph..." Needless to say, we're thrilled!

You can read the full citation below:

Mongrel Rapture is an exemplary monograph. While ARM have made a significant contribution at both state and national level, this is the first on their work. A 'book of record', a testament and a confession, the monograph adopts the format of transcript and storyboard. The graphic style is punchy and akin to a pamphlet.
Mongrel Rapture is a grab bag of interviews, essays, charts and the off-cuts from a busy practice. Content is organised by broad themes, and projects and ideas are intertwined throughout, promoting a complex understanding of the architects' position and the social and political context. Scattered throughout are QR Codes to encourage readers to tap into online interviews, animations and maps.
The Jury believes that the publication will expand the conversation on the work of ARM and take their conversations further into the public realm. It is an exemplary model of an architectural monograph, which generates knowledge about practice by being simultaneously polemical, indulgent and generous.
