A farewell to Sydney: Our Chippendale shop has closed its doors

Our bookshop in Chippendale has now closed its doors. A little space that was a big experiment for us, going into it we weren’t sure what to expect, and it was heartening to see the shop and its busy events program get such a warm and supportive reception from the architectural community and others there in Sydney. 

Managing the shop from our Melbourne HQ, however, has proven to be a more resource-intensive challenge than we’d hoped, and we’ve decided to refocus this energy on our publishing program and preexisting online and physical retail operations in 2026.

Our customers can rest assured that our Collingwood shop will continue to operate as per usual, and any Sydney customers who have gift cards can redeem these online or in-store in Melbourne.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to all of those who supported our Chippendale shop over the past six months, and in particular to Supercontext, Second Edition, Natural Brick and Copy Nature Office for their generous help with the fitout and for hosting us in their building.

Lastly, we would also like to thank our wonderful and talented Sydney team of Ali, Amina and Grace for their passion and enthusiasm for the shop, its books and architecture and design events program, which would never have happened without them.
