International Repair Day reading list

International Repair Day is on Saturday 17 October, and this year marks its tenth edition. To get in the spirit, we’ve pulled together a reading list on the culture, politics and everyday practice of repair, from local case studies to big-picture thinking on why maintenance matters. It includes Transformative Repair by Guy Keulemans, which just won a 2026 Australian Good Design Award for Communication Design (Print and Packaging) last week. The book is both a scholarly argument and a practical guide to reviving broken or obsolete objects, and its exposed open-sewn binding is a nice nod to the subject. Grab a title, settle in, and find out how to take part at repairday.org.
