To mark the fifth anniversary of Le Monde’s Paris headquarters, Snøhetta published the Le Monde HQ Sketchbooks in 2025, an artistic record of the building’s construction by French artist Frédéric Chaume.
From 2017 to 2020, Chaume visited the site over 250 times, documenting the project through detailed hand-drawn sketches and engravings that capture both the human activity behind the construction process and the urban transformation.
The book presents 232 selected works and reflects late chairman Pierre Bergé’s ambition to preserve the project’s cultural legacy, beyond mere technical documentation. It is enriched with poems by Lamiya Shirvanzada, an introduction by Snøhetta co‑founder Kjetil Trædal Thorsen, and essays by architect-historian Jean‑Louis Cohen and Aedes director Kristin Feireiss, placing Chaume’s art within a
wider architectural and cultural context.
