Rather than rehearsing the familiar impasses of climate crisis discourse, Demos interrogates the cooptation of ecological emergency by green capitalism, technocratic solutionism, and xenophobic eco-fascism. His argument is structural: defeating fatalistic nihilism is as necessary as defeating false solutions. Through experimental visual culture, new media practices, and social movements, the book constructs a framework for decolonising the future and cultivating what Demos calls an emancipated chronopolitics — a politics of time oriented toward multispecies flourishing and an undetermined not-yet.
