Guardians of Water: Designing Landscapes of Flow – A Global Perspective treats water not as a resource to be managed but as a living condition that shapes territories and cultures.
About This Book
Edited by Thierry Kandjee and the practice Taktyk Landscape+, this anthology frames landscape architecture as an ethical and political practice built on reciprocity and long-term care. It challenges extractive and technocratic approaches to water and takes a decolonial stance towards design in fragile landscapes.
Organised in three chapters—'Fluid soils', 'Cloud forests' and 'Rituals of care'—it gathers 26 tales from Europe, Africa and Asia that present landscapes as active hydrological and social systems. Forewords are by Tim Waterman of the Bartlett, UCL, and Devayani Deshmukh Upasani of the Indian Society of Landscape Architects.
