Rather than working through projects in chronological order, The Minimal Home is organised around the rituals of daily life. Six chapters—living, cooking, eating, bathing, sleeping and working—each pair Pawson's residential work from the 1980s onward with the precedents that inform it, from Japanese hot springs and the abbey of Le Thoronet in Provence to Donald Judd's home in Marfa and Mies van der Rohe's Farnsworth House.
Deyan Sudjic contributes commentary on the interiors and the thinking behind them, while Pawson's own texts explain his pursuit of rooms that are comfortable to use, to look at as much as to live in. The result is less a manual of style than a patient case for simplicity as a way of living.

About the Author
John Pawson CBE is a British architect whose practice, spanning more than four decades, has become synonymous with minimalism. His commissions range from private houses to sacred buildings, galleries, museums and hotels.
Deyan Sudjic is director emeritus of the Design Museum in London and a distinguished professor at Lancaster University. He is a former editor of Domus and has directed the Venice Architecture Biennale.
