KNOWN: Tennant Creek Brio is a volume in Perimeter Editions' series on contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, devoted to the collective working on Warumungu Country in the Northern Territory.

About This Book

The KNOWN series centres First Nations voices, pairing artists with writers to build cross-cultural dialogue and strengthen cultural knowledge, language and artistic exchange. This instalment focuses on Tennant Creek Brio, a collective that brings together artists from Northern Central Australia and Naarm/Melbourne. The Brio work with what the mining economy leaves behind—salvaged metal, discarded machines and other industrial debris—combining it with Aboriginal cultural heritage and influences from regional and international art. The result is an intensely personal body of work that confronts the unresolved tensions between Indigenous and settler colonial cultures, renews cultural practice across generations and speaks to the resilience of a frontier community. Produced by Perimeter Editions with Agency Projects in Naarm/Melbourne.
