Plant Space: Territories, Architectures and Technologies of the Vegetal is a pocket-sized anthology that asks how plants shape the spaces, economies and ecologies people build.
About This Book
Rather than treating vegetation as scenery or decoration, the book reads plants as active presences that compose space, provoke political tension and open new ways of knowing. Its essays place plant life within longer histories of extraction, enclosure and domestication.
Eighteen international contributors work across critical theory, philosophy, art, design, architecture and ecology. Their subjects range from houseplants and Vienna's imperial gardens to the global plant trade, AI-rendered foliage and the satellite imagery used in herbicidal warfare. The volume grew out of the exhibition Bordering Plants at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
