The Sharefolder Fantasy VASE vase is a ceramic souvenir object born from a global open call — a material record of 203 vases submitted by contributors across 12 countries during eight weeks in early 2022.

About This Book

Sharefolder Fantasy began as an open invitation: submit an image of a vase you made, from anywhere in the world. Over eight weeks in 2022, designers Dale Hardiman and Mark Dineen received submissions that became the foundation of both an exhibition and a publication. The VASE vase is the physical counterpart to that project — a ceramic object, produced in an edition of 20, that functions as a souvenir of collective authorship. At 95 x 120mm, it is modest in scale and precise in intent: a tangible acknowledgement of the 203 makers whose contributions shaped the work. For those interested in participatory design practice and collaborative object-making, this is a rare collectible.

  • The tension between open, democratic process and the finite, limited-edition object it produces
  • A model of cross-disciplinary collaboration between a Melbourne-based designer and a Colorado-based artist-educator working within institutional and independent practice simultaneously
